About Willa Dean Farms

As a shy boy, youngest in a family of five, I would often find comfort with the solitude of the outdoors.  The purity of sound, vision, and smells.  Being surrounded by animals filled my soul.  A love of dogs, chickens, and a very special baby goat named Cloressa burned a vision in my young mind of a life to envision. 

How we care for animals became an obsession and created a personal ideologic brand. In the simplest of terms, this ideology refers to the relationship people have with animals and the duty we have to assure that the animals under our care are treated humanely and responsibly. And that they are happy!

'Adulting' took me to college.  Then into the corporate world.  And then came an offer to relocate from Virginia to Arizona.  The promise of open skies and wild west adventures appealed to me.  I built a good life in corporate America.  Family. Friends.  Career.  

Long distance running, biking, and open water swimming as an Ironman distance triathlete tested my physical limits while also teaching me discipline, the importance of keeping a clear mind, and how to 'listen' to my body.  The stresses of life and outdoor endurance activities affirmed the need to care for my skin.  This is when I was introduced to the benefits of goat milk soap.

Being a thoughtful servant leader in the chaos of a highly regulated industry allowed me to bring a grounded passion for driving success.  Understanding business objectives while placing the people and the client at the front of every decision to be made inspired my success.

With corporate America, there was a void.  Something was missing.  I would ask myself-  How can I build a business inspired by the beautiful souls who have shaped my character over time while demonstrating the balance that is necessary to assure for the quality of life of the people and animals who share the journey. I began to dream.  Dreams led to specific visions.  Visions led to plans.  And plans led to a confidence that I can make my dreams come true.  

So began the journey.  Sourcing goat milk soap product in its purest form. Building a business from the perspective of the practitioner. Putting the lifestyle and the health of the goat first fulfills that childhood ideology. Understanding the duty we have to assure that the animals under our care are treated humanely and responsibly....  Intrinsically organic.

Across the Willa Dean Farms consortium, you will find herds of Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian and/or Oberhasli goats.  Aside from their curious, quirky, playful and friendly (and sometimes stubborn) temperaments, these breeds produce high butterfat content which is ideal for goat milk soap production.
